mesa mobile home parks

While most of the United States has been overwhelmed by this year’s polar vortex, snowbirds at Mesa mobile home parks have been enjoying the sunny weather! But what if the urge strikes for some winter fun on the slopes? Luckily, Arizona’s beautiful ski resorts are a short drive away! Check out these top 3 slopes for snowbirds:

  1. Arizona Snowbowl: Arizona’s most popular ski resort, Snowbowl is located on the San Francisco Peaks in the Coconino National Forest, only 14 miles away from Flagstaff. With a summit elevation of 11,500 feet, the mountain boasts 40 runs and 777 skiable acres. The resort is a short two-hour drive from Palm Gardens’ Mesa mobile homes. Shuttles from Mesa to Snowbowl are available with groups like Desert Snow Connection. For $85 you get a ride up and back on the shuttle and a full day pass during the weekend. Regular rates for the winter season are $59 for a full day adult pass, $35 for seniors 65-69, and free for those 70 and over! Present a DOD card for $5 off any lift ticket or lesson package and 40 percent off during Military Appreciation Weekends, Friday to Sunday, January 24-26 and February 28-March 2.
  2. Sunrise Park Ski Resort: While Snowbowl may be the most popular ski area in Arizona due to its proximity to Flagstaff, Sunrise Park is the largest – with 65 runs and an elevation of 11,100 feet. Located in McNary in the Arizona White Mountains, it is just over 200 miles from Palm Gardens’ Mesa mobile home parks. In addition to its runs, Sunrise has over 13 miles of trails for cross country skiing and special programs for children so you can bring the grandkids! Adults 18-64 pay $63 for an all-day pass, seniors 65-69 pay $30 and seniors over 70 pay $28. Bus rides from Mesa are also available through Desert Snow Connection.
  3. Mt. Lemmon Ski Valley: To the south is Mount Lemmon in the Catalina Mountains near Tucson. Mt. Lemmon is the southernmost ski resort in the United States and is smaller than the 2 mountains previously mentioned, with one ski lift and 21 trails of varying difficulty. Adults pay $40 for a day pass, military and seniors pay $33 and those over 70-years-old ski for free!

Where else but beautiful Arizona can you enjoy 360 days of sunshine and good weather but still find a place to ski just a hop, skip and a jump away?
